This piece immediately grabs attention with its heavy, sculptural texture and vibrant energy. The artist has used a palette knife technique to build up thick layers of paint, creating a skyline that feels almost three-dimensional. You can clearly make out the iconic shapes of Washington DC—the Capitol dome and the Monument—rendered in a loose, expressive style that blends warm oranges and reds against a cooler, textured sky. The application of color is bold and dynamic, giving the cityscape a lively, almost chaotic rhythm. It’s not a photorealistic reproduction but rather an interpretation of the city's atmosphere. The thick impasto strokes catch the light differently across the surface, adding depth and movement to what would otherwise be a standard city view. It bridges the gap between traditional landscape and modern abstract expressionism. In a spacious living room, this horizontal canvas serves as a powerful focal point without overwhelming the furniture. It pairs beautifully with neutral backdrops, letting the golds, blues, and earthy tones pop. It brings a sense of travel and artistic flair to the room, making it feel curated and energetic.
